5 Movies To Snuggle Up And Watch With Bae This Love Day
It's officially here! The day we can say that love is in the air without sounding too cheesy. If you're not one of those couples who like to reserve a table at the most romantic restaurant in town or go out for a walk under the beautifully decorated streets outside, then we have just the thing for you. Order a pizza and open up that bottle of champagne you've had for so long, curl up in your coziest blanket and watch movies filled with the emotion we crave most - love. Happy ending or not, we suggest you keep some tissues with you. Let's admit we all cry when the main characters realize they are hopelessly in love and can't be together forever, be it the lover's families against their relationship or an illness that can't be cured. Here's a list of five movies that you can watch with your loved one and no, the list does not include Titanic or The Notebook, for we all know they are great love stories and we don't need a list to remind us that.
1. Romeo + Juliet (1996)
This modern film interpretation of the classic tragedy by William Shakespeare is a cinematic masterpiece starring the Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. The star crossed lovers meet at a party and fall instantly in love without realizing that they are family members of the rival gangs in Verona Beach. Even if you aren't a fan of classic literature, we are sure this modern adaptation will win your heart.
2. Say Anything... (1989)
Yes, the movie with that famous scene with the boombox. A great teen rom-com drama film, that follows John Cusack as an underachiever named Llyod who is hopelessly in love with the valedictorian Diane, played by Ione Skye. Watch them as these two teens brought up in totally different backgrounds fall in love with each other.
3. Brokeback Mountain (2005)
The movie is regarded as a stepping stone for the advancement of queer cinema into the mainstream media. Follow Ennis and Jack, portrayed by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall, as they deal with their attraction for each other and are unable to be together for the fear of unacceptance by society. The movie compels us to think about how sometimes societal pressure puts an end to what could have been.
4. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
It stars Billy Crystal as Harry and Meg Ryan as Sally. A rom-com about a man and a woman who meet several times over a period of 12 years. The film poses a great question we all wonder, whether a male and female can be just friends? Practically speaking, yes it is possible but it's the reel world baby. Watch the movie to find out what actually happened when Harry met Sally.
5. The Vow (2012)
Who says love isn't forever? Based on true events, The Vow follows the story of Paige and her husband Leo, portrayed by Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum respectively. Paige goes into a coma after she and Leo get into a freak accident. When she wakes up, she loses a part of her memory and is unable to recognize Leo. Watch as the desperate husband tries to win her back. Some stories restore our faith in 'forever love' and this surely is one of them.
